The Dark Hedges

What to do on a rainy day?? Good question.. As what to do on a sunny day in Northern Ireland is a tough one on its own lol.. But what else for a King and Queen to do than to go and find their well earned thrones!?

We decided to take a little Sunday drive to Armoy.. And visit The Dark Hedges. For those who have watched Game of Thrones.. This picturesque area features in many scenes through the series. It is very popular with local tourists along with tourists from all over the world.. Especially Americans. They are obsessed with Game of Thrones. I have never watched it so I cant really comment. But I heard it's a good watch!

Despite it being cloudy and drizzly today.. It actually enlightened the experience.. As it made it looked dark and dreary.. It was pretty cool! It is an amazing area of natural beauty and such a popular spot for those wanting to get some class pictures. You'll probably end up taking some pictures of other people too. Oh and we photo bombed about 20 pics lol.

There is no fee to have a look around. It's a public road which cars drive up and down.. It also has a beautiful mansion at the end of it which is now a restaurant with Gardens at it for a wee walk around. The road with the Dark Hedges originally was the driveway up to this house which was built in 1975! There is a little board at the top of the road with some background info on how the hedges originated. It is also ranked as one of the most famous spots in the World.. Pretty awesome coming from little NI!

Its definitely worth a visit especially if you are up around the North Coast.. It's 20 mins from the Giants Causeway and not far from Ballymoney either! It is a popular spot for photographers and also becoming popular for wedding photos!

We then called round the corner to The Dark Hedges hotel for a bite to eat. The hotel is newly refurbished and is Game of Thrones themed.. You can feel it from you drive through the gates.. With the Shields on the front you can't miss it! With the family kitchen being closed for Sunday dinner we went for a Carvery.. As we were for an ice cream after we went for one course - And goodness me it was enough! Our plates were piled with 3 meats and all the trimmings.. It was delish!

One course was only £10.95.. Two courses was priced at £12.95 and all three courses - £14.95. The food definitely gets an 8/10 and the service from the staff was great they were all lovely! The manager informed us that the hotel was getting very popular with American tourists and also they have a lot of weddings coming up.. With many of them being Game of Throne themed! Pretty cool to have somewhere different like that to visit I think. They also had a bistro downstairs with a great menu and a large screen playing the Tennis.

Here's a few pics from our day..
Definitely go and check it out!

Oh.. And we found our thrones lol.

Lots of love LanaDelRich xox
